Puppies and Kittens
Do you have a new puppy and kitten in your life? New pets will need a little extra attention when they are first introduced into your home. We recommend a thorough physical examination initially to check for any potential birth-associated concerns as well as parasite infestations. New puppies and kittens will also need to undergo a series of vaccinations to help bolster their immune system beyond what was transferred to them from their mother. For your convenience and savings, there is NO ADDITIONAL HOUSE CALL FEE for each installment in the vaccination series.
Adult Dogs and Cats
Adult dogs and cats will generally require an annual physical examination and less frequent vaccinations. Depending on their overall condition, they may require more frequent medical visits or additional diagnostics. We recommend monthly flea, tick, and heartworm preventatives to protect them from common gastrointestinal and cardiovascular diseases. Depending on their coat, we may also recommend certain grooming practices as well. Additionally, we will stress proper dental care to prevent gingivitis and periodontal disease.
Senior pets often require different kinds of diagnostic testing to determine if they have developed any health conditions commonly found in older patients. Some recommendations would be to evaluate their urine and blood to screen for endocrine conditions like diabetes and thyroid disease as well as metabolic disorders affecting the liver, kidneys, and other organs. Some pets may require diagnostics such as radiography and ultrasonography to evaluate their heart and body cavities to screen for more serious ailments. It is also important for some senior pets that are at risk for developing certain health conditions to receive more frequent check-ups. During the golden years, we place considerable emphasis on early detection and treatment in order to keep your pets comfortable and improve their quality of life.
